When Here is There
Ruined Purposes
Description
Date: 2010
This installation reflects on consumerism. A set of shopping carts representing, on the one hand, personal consumption and, on the other, the itinerant houses of the homeless, are connected through a web of red wool that wraps around prisms containing photos on slides. These images answer two questions that were asked of 25 people:
1. What’s the most expensive object you have?
2. What’s the most useful object you’ll take from your house in case of a catastrophe?
The public is invited to look through the prisms, thus becoming an interactive work.
This work was created for Couleur Cafe 2010 and was presented at the Huarte Contemporary Museum that same year.
